I stepped in last minute to cover the lovely Samatha Pells Photography when she got ill the morning of Katie and Rob's wedding. Luckily Katie was getting ready nearby in Hove with her bridesmaids and family so I got my stuff and headed over there. They were understandably a bit stressed but I reassured them I was there to help and I was determined to do an amazing job photographing their wedding. They were getting ready at a friends parents house, it was stunning with lots of natural light. Katie and her bridesmaids got their hair and make up done then got into their dresses. The bridesmaids had beautiful brown satin dresses, so different from the normal type of dresses I see but they looked amazing! Katie had a stunning wedding dress, it had long sleeves and was covered in floral lace. She had a lovely moment with her dad seeing her for the first time and then they headed to Pangdean Barn in a classic car.

The guests were chatting outside the venue waiting to be called into the ceremony. The barn is dimly lit with fairy lights covering the ceiling making it a very romantic place to get married. It looked great in the winter with the Christmas tree and decorations. They had a lovely ceremony and walked back down the aisle as husband and wife. They were congratulated by their guests and then we moved onto group shots as we have limited light in the winter.

We raced up the hill to get to the fields in time for sunset. The gate was locked so we had to climb underneath it to get through, I absolutely love a couple who are willing to get a bit muddy to get the shot! Pangdean has beautiful views over the South Downs so we climbed high up the hill to take advantage of those views. It also has lovely gardens which can be used for the ceremony and drinks reception during the warmer months.

We headed back inside for the speeches and wedding breakfast. The catering staff at Pangdean Barn are incredible, the food is always delicious and the staff are attentive. Whilst they were having their three course meal, the videographer Danny from Lavalette Productions was busy editing them a highlight video of their day. I have no idea how he done it so quick but it was incredible and had everyone emotional as he played it on the TV screen. When the staff were putting the tables away to turn the barn around for the evening reception we went outside and lined everyone up with sparklers ready for the bride and groom to walk through. It was so fun, I love a sparkler exit! The trick to do it well is to use extra long sparklers and to use a blow torch to light them quickly.

When the barn was empty and the band was set up it was time for the cake cut and first dance. The band they had was Go Commando which is a great group of guys, highly recommend them. They had their first dance and then invited everyone to join them on the dance floor. This wedding had an amazing dance floor, the guests were ready for a party.
