Pelham House wedding venue is a listed townhouse in the centre of the charming town of Lewes. Hidden just off the high street, it's a surprisingly large venue with a capacity of 150 seated guests and 29 guest bedrooms.
Getting Ready
They have a few different spaces you can use to get ready at Pelham House. The Dressing Room is in the building opposite the main building and is perfect for bridal prep. The room I would recommend you get ready in is the Pelham Suite in the main building if you have access to it as it's more spacious, it's got better natural light and lovely neutral decor. There is also The Campion Room in the main building which is usually used for the groomsmen. It's not a large room but it has lovely dark wooden panelling and looks out onto the garden.
The Ceremony
The Goring room is an elegant wedding ceremony room with neutral decor. It's a long room with space for up to 125 seated guests and is licensed for legal ceremonies. If you don't fill it to full capacity you could have a musician at the back of the room to play live music as you walk down the aisle and sign the register. They are also licensed to hold outdoor ceremonies in the private garden under The Gazebo which is amazing for the warmer months.
Confetti
At Pelham House they allow confetti indoors and outdoors. This is great because if it's raining then you can have your confetti shot inside as you walk back down the aisle. If the weather is nice then you can go outside to the gardens for the confetti. Please use biodegradable paper confetti or dried petals, paper confetti floats better and shows up much better in photos.
Drinks Reception
The drinks reception can be held in the garden and in The Garden Room which is a modern bar area with doors that open out onto the garden. There is plenty of seating inside and out so your guests can relax. The garden is a perfect place for drinks and games in the warmer months.
Wedding Breakfast
The dinner and evening reception is held is The Blencowe Room which is a large room with dark wood panelled walls and modern lighting. The venue have chiavari chairs and tables available for you to use. After dinner and speeches the brilliant staff at Pelham House will turn the room around ready for your first dance and evening reception. There is plenty of space to have some tables around the edge of the room and a large dance floor area. The bar in The Garden Room will still be open for guests.
Catering
Pelham House have their own in-house caterers so they will provide your canapés, wedding breakfast and evening food. The chefs have created amazing wedding menus for you to choose from but you have the option to create your own menu too. They also have an outdoor kitchen which is perfect for evening food such as pizza or burgers.
Photo Locations
Pelham House is full of beautiful locations with the brickwork, plants and elegant interior. Popular places for couple photos are by the front door, the staircase, the windows upstairs, the garden and the back of the house. If you want to venture outside of the venue's grounds Lewes has some lovely little streets and shops nearby as well as Lewes Castle which is a short 3 minute walk away.
