I'm a wedding photographer and I love shooting at Hendall, I've been there in the Summer and Winter and it works well for both. There's lots of nice locations for photos and the venue itself feels intimate as the garden is enclosed. The venue is in Uckfield East Sussex, in the heart of the countryside giving you a private space for your wedding. It's family owned so they are able to give their couples extra care and attention. There's no set wedding packages and they encourage you to make the space your own, it's dry hire so it's a blank canvas for you to get creative with.

The Stone Barn
The main space in the venue is the Stone Barn, the split level barn can host intimate ceremonies, formal dining for your wedding breakfast and then turned into the dance floor for the evening. It has rough stone walls with large windows to let in lots of natural light, it also has underfloor heating which is great for the winter months. It's best suited to smaller wedding parties of around 50-60 guests as there's not a huge amount of indoor space. There is plenty of outdoor space but if it's raining your guests will be inside. The Stone Barn is licensed to hold wedding ceremonies so you can legally get married there or you could use a celebrant for a more personal ceremony. It's a beautiful blank canvas barn for you to decorate and layout however you like.

The Terrace and Lawn
The outside space is perfect to hold your drinks reception if you have good weather. The lawn is a great place to set up garden games, it's enclosed so you can let the kids play without worrying where they are. The terrace has wooden tables and chairs with umbrellas and benches for the guests to sit and relax, it could also double as a space for a musician or band to play during the drinks reception. There are festoon lights running along the terrace wall which light up in the evening. If you're having a summer wedding make the most of the outdoor space by hiring lawn games for the guests to play like mini golf, giant jenga, connect four etc.
Parking and Accommodation
They have undercover parking for 42 vehicles and a separate disabled parking area next to the barn. They have a 2 bedroom holiday cottage which can be rented the day before and after your wedding and can be used as a getting ready space for the bride on the morning of the wedding. It's a beautiful space with wooden beams and exposed brick walls, there's natural light from the windows and lots of space in the living room area for everyone to get dressed. The first room has a king size bed and the second room as 3 single beds and a day bed so it can sleep up to 6 people.
Catering
Hendall have a list of recommended caterers for you to choose from, they are local companies who cover different tastes and budgets. Your chosen caterer will have access to the kitchen but they are responsible for hiring staff, equipment, any tableware you may need and they'll be in charge of serving drinks as well. The venue do not charge corkage which is a huge plus.
Photo Locations
There's lots of great locations for your couple photos at Hendall Manor Barns including outside the house, the pond, the wooden swing, the arches at the back of the house, the orchard field and the footpaths around the venue. You won't have to walk far to get to any of these locations which is great if you don't want to be away from your family and friends for long. I usually take my couples for a slow walk around the venue and stop off at a few spots along the way.
